Champ
As an *ahem* older bloke I don't get the hate for the term "champ". I had a close mate universally known as Champ because of his ability to down vast amounts of beer (i.e. Drinking Champ). Apparently Champion is ok but Champ is a big no-no. WTF?
So one night I'm watching Mr Inbetween (it's ok I guess) and there's an episode called Champ. In this episide a prison newbie has enraged a fellow con by unwittingly calling him "Champ". Turns out, in the prison world Champ means you are a champion at something else. Being a nerd, I read up on it and apparently Champ is a massive faux pas in this country. Since when I wondered? I figured it must have happened since I last went out in 2009, I dunno.
regards,
REB

Re: Champ
If you're over 40 you can call someone under 10 champ, beyond that it's as condescending as can be in my mind.
As for the Champ Rik E and I knew, RIP Champ.

Re: Champ
It’s only a small step from giving someone an ‘ease up champ’ to an ‘ease up turbo’… there’s no coming back when you’ve turbo’d a bloke

Nah. If someone says to me "ok boomer", I just snap back with "no worries snowflake, what has offended you today on behalf of someone else". Pisses them right off

This attitude is typical of the newer generations.
It's a victims mentality for mine.
Instead of looking at boomers who have built their empires and think geez, I'm going to have a crack at doing that myself, instead they look at boomers and think 'that guy/girl has more than me, that's not fair, I'm going to grizzle and complain rather than work out how to get ahead myself'.
Having said that, the people that raised these entitled brats.....boomers.
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

I know of one brat that demanded an advance on his inheritance so he could afford to buy a house and was complaining to some people including me.
I asked him how much money he had for a deposit. Nil.......zip..........f'all. I said "Good luck with that"
