Notwithstanding the advice during the week seems a dangerous sling leading to concussion still a yellow in D1R

Suffice to say corrected in the ones. Many many dangerous tackles paid consistent with advice during the week.

Game itself the ugliest individual game I’ve ever seen. Pure yuk

And 6.15 to 4.11 gave the visual spectacle justice.

Like if it had dropped 30 mm of rain during the game but perfect conditions

Port Districts sitting top of the ladder.
When was the last time they were top in Div 1?
Gotta be years if not decades.

Instructions are to give a yellow card to get the player off the ground - and it can be reviewed after discussion with fellow umpires and referred to the Umpiring Manager.

People don't always know what the procedures are - but it was upgraded to a Red post game.

Actually think this the right process to follow. We had an incident a couple of years ago where one of our best players received a red card for a dangerous tackle early in the first quarter. He missed the rest of the game and upon review of the video footage, it was thrown out but by then he had almost sat a full week out anyway.

There is still the option for the umpire to call red if they think it warrants it, but yellow by default makes sense.

Correct - if they are certain - then red is appropriate. The League is handling this very well.

Coaches need to educate players to not throw people to the ground.

It's strange in sense, not sure if it seems more prevalent or we're just more aware of it than we used to be.

Or potentially is this just us being a decade or so behind the AFL that was having a big problem with it in the early 2010s and had a similar crackdown to what's happening now that has largely disposed of them

I think you might’ve over-simplified it Harambe1. To be fair I think the league are seeking as much input from its members as possible as to how they address this issue specifically and whether punitive is the only way to go. My loose understanding is it has been put to the league to introduce a combination of a suspension, a suspended component which they do now anyway and the possibility of players umpiring in junior matches as a form of education. You would imagine it to be confined for first timers or those without a record and possibly even for Abuse of Umpire offences. I suppose the precedent was set with the Scotch Coach having to umpire after he gave the umpires some advice.

With the number of reports you blokes have had this year, shouldn't you be docked points?

How many reports have they had this year? I’d love to be able to see the tribunal list for the year - always enjoyed looking at that each week

Thanks mate much appreciated - brighton got some serious discipline issues - but would guarantee they'd be the first club to slander northern sides.

Missed a SPOC reserves player erroneously described as 2R who got 5 weeks

Also notable that only one suspension across the division for anything other than dangerous tackles.
