Conference style All Star game?

SA/TAS/NT/WA vs QLD/NSW/VIC
Or East v West all star game :D
It won't work though. NRL SOO leads to representing Australia, AFL SOO leads to F*** all, doesn't even lead to All Australian selection

The NRL State of Origin model works extremely well and it looks like it will always be part of the NRL calendar. Just a shame it wouldn't work in the AFL. Such a awesome event last night and looking forward to the next time it comes to Adelaide.

AFL games get 80,000+ during the minor round at times, the NRL averages under 20,000.

There's no point comparing apples with oranges.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Cleary out for 6 weeks, hurts Penrith but hurts NSW more. Down 1-0 and no Cleary. Qld win the SOO 3-0.

Cleary was half the problem in the first game. He was deplorable.
Unfortunately for NSW he tends to play more bad ones than good ones

Not many stadiums in NRL would have greater than 30,000 capacity though.

Yeah, only 6 or 7.
The NRL doesn’t attract great crowds but I think it’s partly down to the Sydney sporting culture. They don’t turn up in big numbers to any sport but the TV ratings are usually pretty good.
Most people I know in Sydney prefer to watch sports in a pub with mates and hardly any attend regularly.

League is a game built for TV where Aussie Rules is much better live.

PS 5 stadiums hold more than 30. (Olympic, Suncorp, Moore Pk, Newcastle and Melb)

Parramatta definitely has 30k capacity and I thought Auckland’s stadium would be close too

The point is, you cant compare attendances - especially when the AFL have matches at the MCG, Optus Stadium every week which hold twice that of most NRL venues.

Adelaide, SCG and Marvel all around 50k capacity.

Of course you can, they don't fill 30,000 seat stadiums and that's why they don't have/build 50,000 seat stadiums.

Parra is actually a couple over 30k
I remember an email going out to members and something to do with funding or sponsorship so they it actually holds 30,001 or something stupid like that :)

Oh, I agree.
It’s just their culture, have a look at all their sporting events.
Sydney and Brisbane are absolute polar opposites in comparison to Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth when it comes to sporting events.

Hopefully a big crowd in Canberra on a cold Friday night and a win for Jarrod Croker's 300th game tonight.
A legend of the game that deserves a bit turn out.
