I didn't realise the game was so brutal a hammy could ping on these athletes at any given moment such is the stress that is placed on the body
And then at the end of the match Gulbadin was miraculously running around with his team mates celebrating. [emoji38]
What an athlete to have recovered so quickly.
I'm in awe.
Matty Wade is a star and deserves more respect from the forum family!

Frank Duckworth, one half of the team who pioneered the Duckworth-Lewis method for calculating target scores in limited-overs cricket hit by bad weather, has died at the age of 84.

‘Sad’: Cricket icon, innovator dead at age 84

A cricketing figure that changed the sport forever has died at the age of 84 with cricket commentators sharing tributes.

Frank Duckworth, one half of the team who pioneered the Duckworth-Lewis method for calculating target scores in limited-overs cricket hit by bad weather, has died at the age of 84.

Along with his fellow statistician Tony Lewis, Duckworth devised the formula that was officially adopted by the International Cricket Council in 1999.

The London-based Royal Statistical Society said in a statement: “Frank will be remembered largely for his contributions to the Society as editor of RSS NEWS, and to cricket as the co-inventor of the Duckworth-Lewis method.” Duckworth introduced a short paper, “A fair result in foul weather” at an RSS conference in 1992.

The paper was directly inspired by the farcical ending to the 1992 World Cup semi-final between England and South Africa in Australia, when a short spell of rain played havoc with calculations and left South Africa targeting an impossible 22 runs off one ball.

Duckworth’s lecture led to contact with Lewis, and the pair worked together on a formula that was first used in the second match of England’s one-day series against Zimbabwe in 1999.

The method was renamed the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method following the retirement of Duckworth and Lewis, after it was slightly modified by Australian statistician Steven Stern.

Cricket commentators paid tributes on Wednesday morning.

“I’m sad to report that Frank Duckworth MBE, co-creator of the Duckworth-Lewis method for adjusting targets in rain-affected cricket matches, passed away last Friday,” cricket commentator Rob Eastaway wrote on Twitter.

“His method was used just yesterday in the rain-affected World Cup match between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. RIP.
Dunno, I’m just an idiot.

It helps playing the likes of Oman and Antartica in the qualifying matches.

Should have only 8-10 qualifyers, play each other once then top 4 in any kind of finals format, playing minnows 3 out 4 games develops complacency and a false sense of confidence.

There are a few players that just shouldn't have got a ticket over there but I'm not a selector and I'm sure they have their reasons.

Leaving Starc out against a minnow was baffling, no JFM equally as baffling, Poppa Wade made no sense and as good as Stoinis went in the group stage what did he produce when it mattered most against decent opposition.

On the other hand, Maxwell was disappointing but had enough credits in the kitty to deserve a full shot.

Matt Wade was arguably the worst selection - only batted 4 times, scored 27 from 24 across those innings - someone like JFM would've added more value from those deliveries.

Nathan Ellis could've probably got a better run, he's under rated IMO.

Agar was a waste of space also.

The Australian middle to bottom order rarely fired a shot - if the runs didn't come from the top 5, then we were screwed.
