They have been one of the best amateur soccer clubs in SA for a long time. Had a seemingly never ending conveyor belt of players recruited and flown in from Poland

Their new ground/grandstand/clubrooms look incredible.

What is the deal with that little grandstand they are building on South Road near the Regency tafe?

Croydon Kings SC have done a land swap with the council. Brand new facility with synthetic pitches and the council get to sell their old ground that was used as a construction yard for the Regency overpass

Not really a land swap as council own both parcels of land. The club was left homeless after the former state govt aquired part of their ground to build the road. Was a fair old fight and the libs kicked in around $5m towards the new set up. Polonia/Croydon Kings already used Regency Park oval for their junior teams in the past.

Fantastic new facility that will be finished soon. The down side is that the turf cricket pitch had to make way for the new development.

Similarly I went to the stadium at Gepps Cross last week (ServiceFM Stadium) and was amazed as I didn't even know it was there previously.
Saw some time lapse photography of it going up in 12 months, amazing!

A workmate involved with a amateur club reckons the Churchill Rd ground is the new home of West Adelaide (the old Hellas Greek club) and that just by coincidence one of Turbo Tommy’s relatives was on the board and the new precinct was fast tracked for state government money. Apparently the hold up was because they were allocated “x” amount of money in the grant but had to stump up some money of their own. The club allegedly blew the money on part of the build (think it was the kitchen or bar?) that hadn’t been authorised or permits obtained hence it’s come to a standstill

Dude at work that was a gun soccer player back in the day for West Adelaide reckons it's typical of what they do, acquire land, build til the money dries up, wait for more money and then finish it off.

The pitch looks magnificent on google maps, not much car park spaces though, I didn't realise how deep the whole areas was.

As Jim mentioned they ran out of money and someone who worked for Soccer SA told me they tried to get more funding through them to finish it off. They told them it was your own fault for running out of money and they wouldn't pitch in. Basically said get yourselves out of your own mess.
