He was an interesting person. I met him a couple of times through work and he made an interesting contribution in local government circles recently.

Re: The South Australian Political Landscape
SA politics just got a bit more interesting. Vince Tarzia might want to start working on his resume, he is dead in the water. My first instinct when Nick the ambulance chaser made his announcement was he would be Jay's coalition partner (as Jay is a manipulative weasel), but after consideration however I have come to the conclusion that Stephen Marshall will get more votes again and being a weak prick will cave in to anything Xenophon demands. Stephen will be the official premier but Nick will be running the state as of March next year.

Despite the spin, Xenophon is jumping ship before the High Court kick him out
After 20 years sucking on the public teat, he then has the gall to say the main parties have their snouts in the trough
What do you reckon you're doing pal!

Getting the public to pay you $200,000+ pa is far easier than chasing ambulances

His latest stunt, which is nothing to do with politics ( familiar? ) has descended into chaos as he chases sheep around the streets of Los Angeles.

At least he's got his best mate Frank Pangallo there to help him chase them down the street with his microphone

Will we see a former member of the ABC breakfast team join the campaign?
Maybe another former media identity as well...

Nick was a very successful Barrister and would have been earning a lot more than that.
One of my close friends, another barrister now retired, was earning double that in that era.
Nick also did a lot of pro bono work in the late 1980s and early 1990s for people who had received lump sums from WorkCover and MAC then were fleeced by certain hotels (which I'd better not name) that gave them free booze and kept them pointed at the poker machines - that's where the "No Pokies" campaign started - when he was frustrated that he couldn't protect them from that behaviour by the pubs.
I concede I haven't seen Nick face to face since another lawyer mate's wedding in 2010, and can't comment on what his priority is right now.

Vicky Chapman would be the most disappointing politician seen in this state for a long time and I am convinced this parasite couldn't give a dam if she was in government or opposition as long as she keeps sucking tax payers money !

Nick was always very effective...
Nick abandoned his position as the "No Pokies MP" in 2008, moving to Federal politics on other platforms including "drive your vote further".
As of March 2016 there were 13,258 machines, down over 1,800 from the peak under Nick's term.

An analysis by The Weekend Australian of pokie figures shows there were 10,597 machines in operation in South Australia when Senator Xenophon was elected to the state’s upper house as an independent No Pokies MP, rising to a peak of 15,086 in 2005.
Nick abandoned his position as the "No Pokies MP" in 2008, moving to Federal politics on other platforms including "drive your vote further".
(Senator Xenophon) increasingly moved between an array of unrelated causes, from large campaigns such as protecting submarine jobs and retaining automotive manufacturing in Australia, to representing Brighton Caravan Park tenants evicted from their homes and reopening a North Adelaide road closed to general traffic. Critics accuse him of latching on to populist issues to grab headlines, before moving on with little accountability or achievement.

His priority in recent years has been acting as a Liberal stooge

I don;t think Stephen Marshall would think so, and from talking to the the candidates for Heysen (Josh Teague) and Kavel (Dan Cregan) I don't think they see him as such either.

Re: The South Australian Political Landscape
Both excellent examples of why our state is such a piss poor state in terms of politics. And why Labor keep winning.am Bays wrote:shoe boy wrote:Vicky Chapman would be the most disappointing politician seen in this state for a long time and I am convinced this parasite couldn't give a dam if she was in government or opposition as long as she keeps sucking tax payers money !
