One question, how long is the SANFL Reserves comp for this world? Take the money saved from that, apply it to the senior salary cap/salaries would seem to be a pretty good first step to me.
Getting rid of them is only going to save about $40k approximately per year. Just enough for another top line player.

40k a year for reserves players, no way hozay.
You could triple that knowing what the standard $ per game my lad and others were on as a base liners last year.
Chuck on all the other expenses people forget about.

I will reiterate my basic view that alot of the SANFL problems can be drawn back to a mindset amongst all those in power at league and club level seeking a throwback to the glory days of the 70s and 80s.

The reality is the Crows and Port are coming after some of their market and Community football is well and truly angling for the rest.

If the situation is adapt or die there seems to be a determination within the SANFL not to adapt

The SANFL has been through significant change already so to state they are unwilling to adapt is a bit rich. The salary cap is being lowered for one thing which doesn't suggest a head in the sand approach. At the same time they (naturally) want to maintain standards as much as they can. The SANFL has a crucial role to play, as much as anything in a tough SA market where people may not be so willing to pay a shed load of money to be customers of a composite team. If that's what you want out of footy then so be it but the sport is meant to be so much more than that.

Everything must be above board this year , with the season fast approaching
The zone registers must be going through their last piles of information to catch out all those premiership teams that apparently cheated the salary cap

How's this one from Victoria, $50,000 over a $150,000 cap.

Some serious $$$ floating around that competition!

I thought all the Barossa clubs were too smart to get caught?

I would be very curious to find out how they got caught.

Noting the reasons Glenn left Wollaston and him escaping penalty due to helping the investigation I can’t imagine he is too popular north of Gawler.

Wonder if he kept his $6k?

Didn't it total $3k? 2 x $1500?

Did I read this right? The offences occurred in 2016 and 2018, yet .......
“SANFL Community Football Manager Matt Duldig said the current leadership of the Willaston FC committee had changed since the offences occurred and that the current committee had fully co-operated with the League in its investigation”

I’m hearing from my very reliable sources that Glenn’s sign on fee was in fact $16k. Not sure if that is for one or both years.

Fine is only $7k and would be easily covered by one of the clubs many backers

Yep and theyll still make the finals and still finish where they wouldve anyway, tell me what the penalty is again? Oh the 3 points they are docked for the next couple years, should deter any club doing it again.

If it comes down to the bottom line, it's all hear say, and I'm not very smart but I'd imagine that it's all Inadmissible legally, anywhere. He said, she said bull .... tbh this is the biggest/hardest reason to police it. Willaston recruited the wrong bloke, that fqd up and can't take responsibility for his actions and would rather bring something/someone else down to make himself feel better about himself. Willaston will learn from it but unfortuna he keeps his sign on, plays league, and other clubs will continue to pay overs for his services. Rant over.

I get the feeling this isn't the last bit of news to come out of this. Expect another departure or two. Although I do feel a bit sorry for Willaston, they're clearly not the only club in the BL&G to be over, just the only ones caught so far.

There wont be anymore caught, the CFL would certainly have suspicions but unless there is another Glenn nobody will be caught. And if you want to continue to be paid under the table at other clubs it would be advisable not to be that person.
3rd party payments or in kind are all the rage and that will never be investigated by the CFL.

I also agree there might be more to it PAG, i think Willaston have accepted these penalties and the CFL may have agreed not to investigate further. Its very much a negotiated outcome

When you break down the penalties the CFB are all puff and wind.
$7000. fine, the donnybrooks have a couple of shows coming up so the fine is covered.
Lost of six points this year and if things go there way they will still play finals.
Lost of Apps points next 2 years, so when you take the six points off this year and the way the BLGFA points are worked out they will probably end up with more points next year than they had this year.
The coach gets 12 months suspension and from what I've heard he wasn't coaching next year anyway.
The other official gets 24 months and he isn't involved anymore and I've been told he is not to fussed about the suspension as he is up on the sunshine coast working on his tan, drinking corona's all day.
