Slightly expand to the sub-continent, and Jason Gillespie makes the cut.

Full credit to Glen Smashwell
Fool credit to Mujeeb for dropping The Glen , which would have made the score about 8/110

Its not his footwork, its the power in his wrists. The best I have ever seen in an Aussie batsman.
Every successful team needs a freak like Maxwell, and with the understanding that it comes with a risk/reward.
And decent with bat and in the field. IMO he is one of our most important players in the white ball game.

? for you - given his lack of fitness toward the end of the match, will he be ok for the next game?

Dunno, but you’d think he’d be OK. In any case, the next match is of no consequence and the semis are a week away.

Ive seen a comparative batsman to Glen Maxwell
Douggie Walters had similarities with wrists , stature and freakish abilities

Ooo... visions of Doug belting Willis for a 6 to get a century in a session!

A more consistent player Dougie, but think Maxie has him covered in the innovative stroke play! (Often wonder how some of the older players would have gone in Twenty20, Doug would have enjoyed the quick durations I reckon!

I thought that AB de Villiers vs West Indies 8 years ago was the pinnacle of ODI hitting...now I think has been passed. The match situation was completely different, plus de Villiers had the added bonus of being on two legs, rather than none. it's probably best to go searching for adjectives in the dictionary to come up with a summary of that innings. Seeing the highlights made me laugh in amazement, and all up until then the Afghanis were that semi finals material...but it happens to even some of the best bowling attacks.

Another amazing stat is that the previous highest 8th wicket partnership in ODI cricket was just 138*

There are no words that can do justice to that innings.

I’m glad I stayed up to watch it, but thought that I’d be going to bed a couple of hours earlier.

Imagine how hard it is to hit a six with your feet completely planted, and he did it with ease, clearing the rope by miles.

He’s a dead set freak.
