Its all about the enthusiasm at interview. That really goes for anyone not just kids.

Let us put this to empirical test:
I just attended a job interview, clad in navy suit and black shoes.
Now let us wait and see if I get the gig...
Got the result of the interview today.
I should've worn the brown shoes....

Enthusiasm goes a long way, in many aspects of life.
I think we went over this a few days ago.

Miss Boon ( nearly 17 and at TAFE ) has been at Hungry Jacks for nearly 3 years now, her job offer was on the back of her confidence in the interview.
Where's the job at?
Thanks pretty much what I thought. She's not looking at a particular role yet, just wants to begin getting her ducks in a row and then begin looking for casual role near home.

If she's confident she'll be fine. If she's not then get a family friend to do a mock interview and see how seriously she takes it.

There’s no age set for when you can start work. But there are limits on the type of work you can do.
Most employers work on the ruling "If you're under 15 but over 13 you can work with parents permission"

When I was 14, working was the furthest thing from my mind haha! Cruising around on my pushy causing havoc, playing footy and cricket and chatting up chicks from school on MSN Messenger was what my life was about

Yeah, but 14 year olds now want a phone with 8Gb of data they need to use and pay for public transport, have to have the latest Nike's etc etc....
Both my kids started at Hungry Jacks when they were 14 earning pocket money. If you plug out 3 years in a shit hole like Jacks or Macca's future employers can see you're made of some thing. It certainly helped the lad get his last two spots.

Re: I need to know....
I didn't use MSN.
I used my free minutes after 9pm and would chat to a girl for 9 mins and hang up and call back.
Would accidentally go over all the time and be charged, and have no credit for 2 weeks

Haha! In the day we had I think it was Vodaphone to Vodaphone we would get our free minutes, to get around it, my mate would forward his phone to the number we wanted to call and i'd ring his phone
Worked a charm

It's a different world - noticed over the school holidays just how lazy and dependent kids are.. when I was the same age (geez I sound old), sun would come up i'd smash breakfast then back out on the bike with mates and wouldn't come home until very late haha.
Hardly spoke a word or saw my mum over the entire holidays because I was out and about.. couldn't think of anything worse than sitting around the house

We werent that smart.
The worst time was when I was talking to a girl, hung up, rang back, and some other horny c**t had rang her just before me. That one got away. I think they're still together
