When I read about this yesterday I read that batter is actually the historical term in cricket, not batsman so really it's just a return to an original term.
Anyway I'm more concerned about keeping the game alive at all levels rather than a change in terminology.

As a straight bloke I’ve always been offended by the term “byes” & “leg byes” in cricket. This needs to be changed.
And as not to offend the ladies we’re going to have to find a new name for some of the equipment… the box, pads, helmet.
Don’t even get me started on the “popping crease”…
