Re: Ch9AFL C GRADE Divisions - 2017
Would it be worth having some grading rounds in C Grade? First three games or something then work out divisions. See which clubs can definitely get teams on the park.
This is Tony Clifton! A name to respect! A name to fear!

Theory is good i think.. until clubs begin tanking in the grading rounds to ensure they are allocated to a lower division

Doesn't have to necessarily be based purely on results though? More weight on what div their A grade is in and how many players they have in their squad and the likelihood of putting a team on the park for 18 rounds..
Otherwise you're right - Round 1 HV 1.3 def Ingle Farm 1.2, 9 blokes each side on the field and 32 blokes watching on the balcony with a beer

2 goals for the match with 9 a side - it would be a horrible standard of footy to be watching - blokes on the balcony would need a lot of beers

Given that's the third forfeit in a row for Rosewater, are they going to continue in C5 or pull the pin completely?

I've always liked the idea in principle as every year you pretty quickly get some extreme outliers at each end.
Would be a nightmare with fixturing though.

Word yesterday was they're pulling their side? Don't know how accurate that is though.

Would fining clubs who nominate teams then either forfeit or pull out be too extreme?

Nope, I think clubs should be fined for forfeits, same as cricket.
Might make clubs and players work little harder to find players? Geez i remember playing C grade at Kilburn and some weeks we would only have 14 players - other weeks a car would rock up with drunk "recruits" from the pub

Last year to fill a D Grade junior parents at Friday Night games were being asked if they'd ever played Football before.
Ended up getting some (albeit aged) former SANFL players and League medalists to pull on the boots for a few games

Re: Ch9AFL C GRADE Divisions - 2017
So the results of the first two games they played stand, then everyone else gets a 10 goal win up to Round 9. Then its just a bye from Round 10 onwards??

It's a difficult one. The C Grade footballer is a very transient population. Difficult for clubs to predict accurately from year to year who's in, who's out. Often clubs don't know exactly how many players they have coming out until the season is up and running. Not many C Graders at preseason training before Christmas. A 3-week 'soft intro' to the season would just give the amateur league a bit more data to go on rather than a club's gut feel a couple of months out.

We forfeited two weeks back against Golden Grove then had 9 on the bench last Saturday so we definitely understand the swings that the c grade can have

Jesus! How do you keep the lads interested? At least they'll all be fresh when they do play lol.
Are there any sides that have a bye this week that you could arrange a game with?

Sitting top of C3 after 5 rounds and played just 2 games.
I think that this seasons draw so far in the C grade divisions have not worked at all.
You get a side like Old Iggies in C6 who look to dominate and played off in C5 GF last season and sides actual C grade sides forfeiting in round 5!
Iggies D grade from last season would be competitive in C3 no problems IMO. Between our D and C grade there has been 3 forfeits out of a possible 9 games so far this season - that number seems high.
