Regular concrete is between $150-200 per cubic metre........think spray-crete would be at least twice the price.......economies of scale suggests to find a different solution! Otherwise DPTI would be accused of throwing taxpayer dollars away willy nilly.

Left the office at Mawson Lakes at 6 PM or thereabouts. As I left the building a light plane went almost directly overhead in the direction of Parafield airport. This is not unusual in and of itself, however the plane was very low and close - and silent.

"WTF", I thought, "he's a bit low..."

The plane went out of view. Five seconds later there was a thump, and instantly all the lights went out.

Just got home and read this:

Yeah saw that - I'm honestly surprised it hasn't happened more often. I've driven down Kings Road with a truck in front of me before and a plane flying over would've been lucky to have a 1.5m clearance.

Ridiculous.

Shit, I was out and about at that time too, I changed paths and used the Mawson Lakes Boulevard/ Main North Road intersection instead.

Should catch up for a beer one day mate.

I'm no pilot but the bloke missed the runway by 200 metres, fair whack, they've actually taken a fair chunk of land at the southern end of the airport.

A few years a pilot crashed on a soccer field just off Frost Road, pretty sure that was mechanical failure though.

I did have a bit of a chuckle reading the comments on FB about it all, there were many Mawson Lakes residents appreciating the quiet skies for the evening opposed to the constant sounds of a two stroke buzzing until around 11pm, then there were the attackers.

Not sure, but there’s a man who can fill a billboard.

Do you think it's one of those "government bills"? ie - ridiculously high because it's a government funded project/program?

Contractors in my field pump up pricing on any works that are government funded.

There is an old story of a boilermaker who was hired to fix a huge steamship boiler system that was not working well.

After listening to the engineer’s description of the problems and asking a few questions, he went to the boiler room. He looked at the maze of twisting pipes, listened to the thump of the boiler and the hiss of the escaping steam for a few minutes, and felt some pipes with his hands. Then he hummed softly to himself, reached into his overalls and took out a small hammer, and tapped a bright red valve one time. Immediately, the entire system began working perfectly, and the boilermaker went home.

When the steamship owner received a bill for ten thousand dollars, he became outraged and complained that the boilermaker had only been in the engine room for fifteen minutes and requested an itemized bill. So the boilermaker sent him a bill that reads as follows:
For tapping the valve: $2.00
For knowing where to tap: $9,998.00
TOTAL: $10,000.00
Danny Southern telling Plugga he's fat, I'd like to see that!

Now the wankers have put up fencing on the bridges, the tennis court type fencing that 1/ you can climb easily and 2/ is only 2 foot higher than what is currently there -it is basically the same height as a normal backyard fence so not real hard to still throw rocks
