I wonder, for A grade teams who win premierships this year - how hard will it be for them to back up and go again next season.
Would it be easier or harder to prepare for a tilt in the same division?
It’s a great question Bedge, for me a club who wins a flag this year will have earned it, more importantly those who have done it with not only home grown talent, but their recruits who stay on next year. If a vaccine is available early 2021 for this pandemic then things could change a lot, Country clubs will open up again and make no mistake the cheque books will be out. So for clubs right now, player retention is critical. If the goss is right and the salary cap is reduced significantly for 2021 a lot of clubs will struggle to keep their best players when the vultures come after them. So the answer to your question is, how do you prepare for the unknown.
Cheque books in country leagues next year are going to be massive.
Decent(ish) rainfall this year will see farmers fairly cashed up, Agriculture industry was hardly hit by Covid and they saved a ton of money this year and will be ready to spend big time next year.
From what im already hearing up here we can expect a lot of new recruits into the leagues.

Will affect the top divs more than the bottom divs. I initially thought $20k max for a coach may see a downturn in the number of player coaches but only the portion over $20k gets included in salary cap. Are you allowed to pay $20k each for x number of player assistant coaches without any of it being included in salary cap? Or is it $20k total coaching payments?

This is only for the Adelaide Footy League correct? Are the country leagues also looking at reducing caps, as this will only widen the gap between the two.

Any thing paid to a player assistant coach is a "football payment" and included in TPPS.
Whether every club who engages them does so however ...

Yeah didn't read that properly, only read the first bit: A player may be paid up to $1,000 per annum for providing the head coaching service to any grade, other than the A Grade. Any payment to a player for performing any other coaching role with the Club, other than the Senior Coach or Head Coach, will be deemed to be a football payment in the total player payment cap
