I think you will find the SANFL/SAAFL have some big changes planned for the coming years which may ultimately cause a divide/split between "country" and "metro" footy. As far as I can tell from the past a north/south comp wont work especially at the higher levels.

Maybe look for some country leagues to go their own way away from the SANFL.

There's a post somewhere circa 2006ish promoting a Glenunga/PAOC merger.

Huge 15 years for each club since!
