Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 1
Massive get for SPOCThe SPOC Football Club are extremely excited to announce the signing of Jesse McKinnon for the 2025 season.
Jesse hails from the Victor Harbor Roos, having been captain for the last few years and is also a 2 time GSFL Mail Medalist, winning back to back medals in 2023 and 2024. Jesse also played league and reserves football for South Adelaide prior to making the move to the Roos. Jesse is an inside midfielder with a supreme work rate and great ability to find the ball.
Jesse will bring fantastic leadership and experience to the club, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in action in 2025. Please welcome Jesse and wife Winnie to the club!

Rumours floating around Galway avenue that a few Broadview boys on the march for next year
Hearing at least 3 have already signed with the United Football Club in the Adelaide Plains League and another possibly heading to Bute.
Possibly a few retirements as well, interesting times ahead one feels

Yep will be a new looking list next year for sure.
I have heard that 10 are out. Not sure of all 10.
3 are off to United as you mentioned - Wozza, Big Rig and forgot the other one.
The Boz i believe is back to RMFL but haven't spoke to him directly just heard that rumour.
Steve Jackson gets a much deserving crack at SANFL
Couple of the older ex SANFL boys have pulled stumps
I have heard of a couple of good ins but they are yet to be announced so its not all doom at gloom. One is from North and one from the Plains.
The PNU Falcs 2005,06,13 x 2,14 and Div 1 Premiers in 2019......The SA 3peat - 2003,04,05

Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 1
As per usual the Adelaide Now article is a bit misleading. Sam Morris the most significant because he is a 2022 Norwood premiership player and played in their recent losing GF. He is a former PNU junior. The other 2 are Mac Bower who last played for Norwood in 2022 but has played for Border Dist. the last 2 seasons and is also a former PNU junior. And Isaac Hewson who hasn’t been at Norwood since 2018. Played Reserves but no league games. Since then has played at TTG, Kingston (I think) and Border Dist with Bower. The article almost implies all 3 have been recruited straight out of Norwood which is only the case with Morris.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good local footy article!
The journo either uses PlayHQ to his advantage, and technically all 3 are Norwood players, or he's never heard of PlayHQ and just guesses.

Re: 2025 Adelaide Footy League - Division 1
Every AdFL club in every division gets the standard 15 points per season. Thats the beauty of multiple divisions and promotion and relegation. No need to put in place other equalisation measures.

So, Mitch Gaffney who this year was 3 points, drops in 2025 to 2 points

So, in theory, there's nothing stopping the reigning Div 1 premier from adding an ex AFL or SANFL player each season.Down the Hill wrote:Every AdFL club in every division gets the standard 15 points per season. I'm sure other clubs would pipe up about a possible points reduction if that were the case. Interesting scenario, especially given the group of ex-Pear players forming at Dizzies. Imagine if they added Boak after 2025, Finlayson after 2026, etc.

There's nothing stopping any club from doing that - if they can fit the 4pts in their list.wenchbarwer wrote:So, in theory, there's nothing stopping the reigning Div 1 premier from adding an ex AFL or SANFL player each season.

But for D1 has had 7 different premiers in the last decade (and has had premiers subsequently relegated to D2)wenchbarwer wrote:So, in theory, there's nothing stopping the reigning Div 1 premier from adding an ex AFL or SANFL player each season.Down the Hill wrote:Every AdFL club in every division gets the standard 15 points per season. Wouldn't have thought many country comps have that level of competitive tension.
Between points and salary cap D1 in particular seems to be doing a pretty good job of self regulating from a competitive balance standpoint.
